Crime Watch Signs added to Dallas North Estates Area
Following a request of one of our neighbors, the City of Plano has added five (5) additional Crime Watch signs at the eastern most zone, primary entry points to the neighborhood roughly bounded by 15th St, Alma, Janwood and Westwood due to recent activity in that area.
- Edgewood south of 15th St
- Brentwood south of 15th St
- Janwood west of Alma
- Janwood east of Westwood
- Westwood south of 15th St
A sign also exists at Meadowcrest off Alma. These signs serve only as a deterrent to someone entering the area with less than desirable intentions. To be effective, alert residents are critical to a successful crime watch program.
Anyone observing a suspicious person or activity is advised to call the police department at once.
Call 911 if threatening activity, such as personal safety, or property damage appears likely.
For non-critical observations call the non-emergency 311 number. Do not hesitate or attempt to confront anyone or put yourself in danger.
Equally important, is to post an alert on Next Door Neighbor as soon as possible to apprise other residents in the neighborhood. This alert system is more instantaneous than previous crime watch procedures and can be of great assistance in aiding the police department and fellow neighbors in identifying or resolving potential situations. Note however that NDN posts do not serve as notification to the police department.
Access to Next Door Neighbor is by invitation of a previously registered neighbor. I would be happy to register anyone not currently registered by receiving an email request from you with your name and address.
