Evasive Dogs again

DANGEROUS DOGS ALERT!

Happy winter to all!

The City of Plano has asked the HOAs to alert all residents to be on the lookout for 2 dogs that have bitten several people in Plano. They have asked all residents to CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY IF YOU SEE THESE DOGS! The dogs have been on the loose for several months. One dog is mostly black & is an Australian Cattle Dog & the other is a mostly white & black spotted mixed breed. They are medium sized dogs.

DO NOT APPROACH THESE DOGS! The dogs are very stealthy & have managed to allude all attempts at capture. Please be aware the black Australian Cattle Dog has bitten people from behind on the lower leg while they have been jogging or moving. This fits with the Australian Cattle Dog’s instinct to herd cattle, which they do by biting the heels of the cattle. Please be aware of your surroundings when you are jogging or walking briskly, as the black dog has surprised many who have been bitten.

Again, if you see these dogs, the City wants residents to CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY! DO NOT call Animal Services or any other city dept. before you CALL 911! The City wants to get these dogs off the streets & needs the public’s help in locating them as quickly as possible!

PLEASE CLICK ON THE CITY WEBSITE LISTED BELOW for photos of the dogs & much more information about the dogs.

Tree Damage on Alma

The following information is from Angela Kralik, Urban Forester with the City of Plano.  You can reach her via email at angelak@plano.gov.

Several trees have been hit by large trucks and have dropped limbs on cars over the past several months. They cannot be pruned up, because there is a Power Line existing that has already removed the upper canopy of the tree. Last month a Certified Arborist with Arborilogical Services, Inc. did a full evaluation on those trees and her recommendation is that 48 of the 59 trees need to be removed.

The Arborist has agreed to attend the meeting with me. I’m also hoping that someone from Public Works will attend to answer any questions about the future screening of that site, since we cannot put trees back in that location.

I would really like to speak with those residents directly impacted and we can talk about their tree.

The meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 23rd at 6:30 pm at Liberty Recreation Center in Plano.

City Council Approves Rosewood Zoning

President’s  Update & Message

I  want to let the neighborhood know the outcome of the meeting with the Plano City Council last night. But first, I want to thank all of you for your tremendous participation and effort in our zoning process. It is so great to see so many people involved in this process! Thank you!

Secondly, I would like to thank Messiah Lutheran Church and Harold Lerhmann for graciously extending their Church facilities for our many neighborhood HOA meetings over the years. We greatly appreciate it!
I also would like to thank the DNE Board (past and current) for many many volunteer unpaid hours of everything from maintaining the website and the finances to all the many other things over many years from zoning issues to Neighborhood National Night Outs that have helped keep our neighborhood informed and great! So a big Thank You to all!

Plano City Council Meeting Update

Now for the results of the Plano City Council meeting. The Council passed the Rosewood zoning proposal unanimously with an 8 to 0 vote. The Council felt this development will be a good for our neighborhood and for Plano. They did express concern about the traffic on Westwood, but that issue will be resolved when the actual site plan is filed with the city. There will be an article in The Dallas Morning News Business section on Wednesday October 29 about the project.

Phase I

Rosewood has said they will begin phase 1 of the development on the east side of the property by building 320 apartments, 3 restaurants, approximately 200  single family detached homes and townhouses, and some low rise office. They have said they will keep the neighborhood in the loop as the development progresses.
Please check our website DNEHOA.ORG for any other information about this and other neighborhood issues.
Thanks again and a Happy Halloween to all!
Robert

Updated Rosewood Plans Dated 10-15-2014

Rosewood Revisions

Rosewood filed revised plans with P&Z to reflect the technical corrections needed for the City Council meeting on 10/27/2014.  They are dated 10-15-2014 and a link is on the right sidebar.  There are no changes to the plans

Shirdi Sai Baba Temple of DFW Plans

Preliminary site plans for the Shirdi Sai Baba Temple of DFW were also on the consent agenda so it probably conforms to zoning.  Their representatives were at the meeting and Robert met them. The link to those plans is also in the right sidebar below Rosewood/Heritage.

They plan to start construction late this year or early next year.  The first building is one story with a maximum height of 55 feet.  There is room for expansion to the north and south of the proposed building. The building is on the north side of Plano Parkway East of the Republic Title building and west of the horse pasture that meets the zoning requirements.

Update on Heritage 190 Rezoning Request

Update from October 6 P&Z meeting

P&Z approved the Heritage 190 plan.  It now goes before City Council on October, 27, 2013 at City Hall at 7:15.  More information will follow.

Heritage 190 Results & P&Z Update

This is the information which was sent via email.  Corrections and additions were made to clear up any misunderstandings.

Heritage 190 Results

85 households participated in the website survey about the Heritage 190 project presented by Rosewood.  There were 44 for and 41 against.  Comments in the survey were provided to Robert for review so he can present the association’s position at the meeting.

P&Z Meeting October 6, 2014 Update

The P&Z staff have recommended that the project be tabled due to technical issues but Rosewood wants to go forward.  If tabled, it will be heard at a later meeting  Tabling the item doesn’t mean it is denied or disapproved. Robert recommends folks still attend.
