Grandview break in on 10/17/2017

Crimewatch Update

A break-in that occurred on Grandview last night at 1:58am? The man entered a car and was caught on video. There are screenshots that the homeowner would like to share with people in this neighborhood in case they have seen him or know anything about this. Police have been alerted.

Update on Atmos and the alleys

Weather permitting, Atmos contractors are scheduled to begin work on paving the Grandview/Westridge & Westridge/Northcrest alleys beginning next Tuesday, Sept. 26.

Atmos will complete the work on one entire alley before it begins working on the second alley. Atmos will NOT be paving the entire alley. It generally will be paving only the areas that have been cut into for the gas line replacement. Atmos will most likely start pouring cement on the next day after it begins work on the alley & the concrete should take about 3 days or so to cure. This means you will not be able use the alley to park your vehicles in the garage while the concrete is hardening. So street parking will be necessary while the concrete is drying.

THE WEEK BEFORE THE ALLEY PAVING BEGINS, ATMOS WILL PUT A DOORHANGER ON YOUR DOOR WITH ALL THE INFO ABOUT THE TIME PERIOD THE ALLEY WILL BE CLOSED. The Grandview/Westridge & Westridge/Northcrest alleys are the final 2 alleys left to pave. After Atmos has completed the work on these 2 alleys, it will be DONE with the gas line replacement project in our neighborhood, west of Custer!

Also, just a reminder…those who are putting their trash cans on the street will need to continue to do so until Atmos is completely finished paving the individual alleys. The trash trucks won’t be able to get down the alleys until the concrete has hardened & the work has been completed.

Be prepared to have other interruptions with TV, internet, etc. when they break and remove the concrete. When they replaced the concrete in the Grandview/Kelsey alley, it affected almost every home. Spectrum was quicker to respond than Frontier.  If you have Frontier business service, it may take longer than residential.

Update for Collin Creek Mall Redevelopment

Longtime developer Sam Ware has Collin Creek Mall under contract with plans to finalize the acquisition by the end of the year. Ware and his team plan to make the property more efficient until they can execute on a bigger redevelopment in two years that is expected to cost at least $1 billion. More details to come when available from the City. More information is available from The Dallas Business Journal if you’re a subscriber.

Notice of Public Meeting and Public Hearing (MSD)

The Texas Legislature in 2003 passed the legislation that allows a landowner or city to request a Municipal Setting Designation (MSD) if the ground water under a landowner’s property is contaminated. The MSD allows the landowner to not remediate the underground water if no one is using it for drinking water or irrigation.

All of the drinking water in Plano comes from the North Texas Municipal Water District which does not use underground water for anything. All of our water, drinking or otherwise, comes only from Lake Lavon and Lake Texoma.

Attend the public meetings on August 8, 2017 at 7:00  p.m. at the Plano Municipal Center Building Inspections Training Room, 1520 K Ave. and the City council meeting on August 14, 2017 at 7:00 the City Council Chambers  and ask any questions you may have.

Development Site Plan Near Racetrac

Happy May to all!

I wanted to update the neighborhood about a site plan that was recently filed with the Plano Planning and Zoning Commission. The site plan calls for two restaurants to be built on the vacant lot located on the northeast side of Plano Parkway and Independence next to and north of the Race Trac gas station. The site plan locates a Golden Chick Restaurant north of and next to the Race Trac. There is also a proposed second location on the site plan that is east of and next to the Golden Chick Restaurant. That will probably be a Texadelphia Restaurant.

No zoning change is necessary as this proposed use is allowed by the retail zoning already in place on that corner. The site plan will be presented to the Plano Planning and Zoning Commission on Monday May 15, 2017. The site plan is available on our website.

If you have any questions please contact me at

Wishing all of you a Great Spring!

Evasive Dogs again

Happy winter to all!

The City of Plano has asked the HOAs to alert all residents to be on the lookout for 2 dogs that have bitten several people in Plano. They have asked all residents to CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY IF YOU SEE THESE DOGS! The dogs have been on the loose for several months. One dog is mostly black & is an Australian Cattle Dog & the other is a mostly white & black spotted mixed breed. They are medium sized dogs.

DO NOT APPROACH THESE DOGS! The dogs are very stealthy & have managed to allude all attempts at capture. Please be aware the black Australian Cattle Dog has bitten people from behind on the lower leg while they have been jogging or moving. This fits with the Australian Cattle Dog’s instinct to herd cattle, which they do by biting the heels of the cattle. Please be aware of your surroundings when you are jogging or walking briskly, as the black dog has surprised many who have been bitten.

Again, if you see these dogs, the City wants residents to CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY! DO NOT call Animal Services or any other city dept. before you CALL 911! The City wants to get these dogs off the streets & needs the public’s help in locating them as quickly as possible!

PLEASE CLICK ON THE CITY WEBSITE LISTED BELOW for photos of the dogs & much more information about the dogs.
If clicking the link doesn’t work, please copy and paste the link into your browser.

Please be alert to your surroundings when you are outside & CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY if you see these dogs!

Stay safe!
